Scholarships, Discounts, and Funding

Studying the graduate program of your choice can be made more affordable through the use of scholarships, discounts, and other funding options available to students within CLES Department programs.

Scholarships

As the CLES Graduate Department is a part of the College of Applied Studies, the following links will direct you to scholarship opportunities specifically for College of Applied Studies students. A link to a list of outside scholarship opportunities listed on the WSU website is also provided; however, the list is by no means comprehensive, so students are also encouraged to search on their own.

Tuition Discounts

The following links will direct you to information about eligibility for tuition discounts that, if eligible, will qualify an out-of-state or international student to pay a reduced tuition rate that is significantly less than out-of-state tuition.

Shocker City Partnership Tuition Discount

The Shocker City Partnership grants resident tuition rates to students from specific metropolitan areas in Missouri, Oklahoma and Texas, making the cost of attending Wichita State significantly less than out-of-state tuition.

Shocker Select Tuition Discount

Shocker Select makes the cost of attending Wichita State significantly less than nonresident charges. Students receive a 33 percent discount on nonresident tuition. Eligible Wichita State University students from Oklahoma or Texas no longer have to pay out-of-state tuition to attend WSU.

Midwest Student Exchange Program
The Midwest Student Exchange Program (MSEP) allows students from Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, Ohio and Wisconsin to attend Wichita State University at a discounted tuition rate, making the cost of attending WSU significantly less than out-of-state tuition.
Global Select Scholarships

Global Select Scholarships can be used by international graduate students and can provide a tuition discount of 38%.

Graduate Assistantships

The CLES Graduate Department offers a limited number of assistantship positions as Graduate Research Assistants, Graduate Teaching Assistants, and Graduate Staff Assistants each semester depending on departmental needs and available funding.  Students interested in applying for an assistantship should contact the Program Coordinator of the applicable CLES program once they have been accepted into that program.  It is preferred that applications be submitted via email to the CLES Department. A committee will meet to review applications each semester; students who are selected by the committee will be contacted once selections are made.
