The Department of Sport & Leadership Studies at Wichita State University is excited to welcome you to the Kansas Sport Summit! At the Kansas Sport Summit, established in 2024, students, professionals, and academics in sport management and related fields will bring together a dynamic day of connection, learning, and growth. Through interactive roundtable discussions, collaborative breakout sessions, and an engaging career fair, the Kansas Sport Summit bridges the gap between theory and practice, offering comprehensive insights, spotlighting emerging trends, and creating meaningful opportunities for networking and collaboration.

Marc Farha

Co-Chief Executive Officer at CAA ICON

Born in Wichita, Kansas, Marc Farha began his journey in sports as a basketball manager for the Wichita State Shockers in 1984. Since then, he has built a distinguished career spanning more than 30 years in the sports facility industry. Currently serving as Co-Chief Executive Officer of CAA ICON, Mr. Farha has led projects and operations for some of the nation’s premier venues, including Ball Arena, Empower Field at Mile High, and facilities for the Charlotte Hornets. His expertise bridges both the public and private sectors, shaping world-class experiences for teams, fans, and communities.

The Career Fair & Ignite Interview will offer students and professionals a platform to connect with industry leaders, explore career opportunities, and gain insights into the sport industry. Be ready to proactively participate and network!

  • Do Your Homework: Research the organizations that you will communicate with.
  • Bring Resume and Confidence: Have multiple copies of your resume and bring your confidence—smile, shake hands, and make eye contact.
  • Elevator Pitch Ready: Prepare a quick 30-second intro about you and your experience and interest. 
  • Professional Attire: Business casual or more professional attire is required.
  • LinkedIn Ready: Update your Linkedin account and reflect your education and experience. 
  • Follow Up: Grab business cards and send a thank-you email or LinkedIn message after the Summit to keep the connection alive.

I actually talked to people who are working at the levels that I aspire to be. Just being able to connect, learn from them, and start getting my name out to them was such a cool experience!
