Minors in Sport and Leadership Studies

 

What is a minor?

A minor is a small grouping of classes that provide some focus on a topic. Let's say you think your major will be in healthcare, engineering, sport management, graphic art, sociology, education, athletic training, or chemistry. A minor simply helps you develop additional skills so you can be an impact contributor in whatever field you decide to pursue after graduation.

Esports Management

The minor in esports management provides basic sport management best-practices in order to prepare students from other majors with the foundational skills to develop events or other forms of esports-centric programming. The minor consists of 12 credit hours of sport management courses.

The minor in organizational leadership and learning provides foundational knowledge for working with employees, colleagues and/or community members. It consists of 12 credit hours.

A 12-credit hour minor in outdoor leadership and education prepares you to manage a workforce connected with public lands and spaces, civic engagement within natural spaces, and personal development.

The minor in student organization leadership provides foundational knowledge, industry best-practices, and leadership development for those involved in student organizations. It consists of 12 credit hours.

A minor in wellness provides students the multidisciplinary and foundational skills needed to better understand the complex concept of wellness. The minor consists of 12 credit hours of courses drawn from a variety of departments or programs, such as counseling, human performance studies, sociology and leadership

Certificates in Sport and Leadership Studies

What is a certificate?

Certificates are a group of courses that address a special topic—equipping you with additional knowledge and skills that complement your graduate degree and help boost your career. Our certificates are smaller than full degree programs and usually range from 12-15 credit hours per certificate.

UNDERGRADUATE

Sport Leadership and Branding

Undergraduate students seeking to enroll in courses for a certificate program must be admitted to Wichita State University. Students may be in either degree or non-degree status. International students may enroll in certificate programs, but must maintain compliance with their visa requirements. Interested students should contact the coordinator of the certificate program (Mark Vermillion, PhD, mark.vermillion@wichita.edu).

GRADUATE

Organizational learning

 A 15-credit hour graduate certificate in organizational learning provides you with the knowledge, tools and best practices to support, design and implement professional development and learning programs for adults within organizational settings.
