Wichita Litter Study

The Environmental Finance Center conducted the Wichita Litter Study, which seeks to answer questions about litter types, locations, and sources in Wichita. Volunteers collected litter data which was then compiled and analyzed.  Results of the study show that 47% of litter collected that was larger than 4 inches was single-use plastic.  Additionally, small litter collected consisted of cigarette butts and small pieces of plastic and foam.

Local volunteers completed litter data collection training  and participated in collection events to help gather, count, and categorize litter.  Their participation was invaluable and made the study possible!
