WSU Japan Festival and Haiku Contest

Friday, April 24th

The Annual WSU Japan Festival is a celebration of Japanese culture hosted each spring by the Japanese Culture Association and the MCLL department. Join us for games, food, arts and crafts, and presentations and performances. The annual Haiku Contest is open to anyone in the community and winners are announced at the event.

Heartland Japanese Language Contest at KU

Saturday, March 28

Japanese-language students from across the Midwest to compete in games and contests including tanka poetry (English and Japanese), Japanese-language presentations, kana and kanji, grammar, and culture. All skill levels are welcome to join.

Friday, April 11 — WSU Japan Festival and Haiku Contest

This year our annual WSU Japan Festival will be held a bit earlier than usual. We look forward to a day of learning about Japanese culture through games, arts, presentations, and activities. The annual Haiku Contest winner will be announced at the festival.

Japanese Contest at KU

Japanese Contest at KU on 3/3/18

Japanese Contest will be from 10am to 4pm on March 3rd at Kansas Union of Kansas University. Events include Kana Karuta: for beginners (HS and College students), Kanji Karuta (JLPT L5 and L4 kanji) 2nd, 3rd & 4th year HS and College students), Mail-in Calligraphy and Tanka (any level student), and Kahoot game of Japan Facts and Trivia. Other highlights for contestants, teachers and attendees include: Conversation Corner, yukata wearing, calligraphy demonstration, mochi making, East Asian Library Tour, Japanese language and culture networking, and more. Attending the contest will be extra credits.
