- Transfer students should confirm general education needs with a CHP academic advisor.
- General education coursework is waived for students who have earned a prior bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution.
- Students who have completed an AA or AS through a Kansas Community College may choose to fulfill general education requirements by completing two 300-level general education courses at Wichita State University. These courses must represent two subject areas.
- Only 6 credit hours of general education coursework and/or electives may be outstanding prior to starting the traditional program.
- All general education coursework and/or electives must be complete prior to starting the accelerated program.
- A total of 66 hours of prerequisites + general education courses + electives are necesssary to meet the 120 total hour requirement for the BSN.
- All students may follow this curriculum.
- At least 9 credit hours must be numbered 300 or higher.
DIVISIONAL REQUIREMENTS*

First-year students must complete a first-year seminar.

PROGRAM APPLICATION AND ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

- Fall Traditional (2 year) Program deadline: February 1
- Spring Traditional (2 year) Program deadline: September 1
- Summer Accelerated (13 month) Program deadline: February 1
The traditional program starts a class of 60 every fall and every spring. The accelerated program starts a class of 30 every May.
- Admission is competitive.
- Admission decisions are made by School of Nursing Admissions Committee.
- Fully admitted to, or enrolled at, Wichita State University.
- Minimum Overall cumulative GPA of 2.75 for the Traditional Program and 3.0 for the Accelerated Program.
- If courses taken at WSU, WSU GPA must be 2.0 or higher.
- Minimum letter grade of C (2.0) in all prerequisite courses.
- TEAS (Test of Essential Academic Skills) or ACT composite score of 27+ or SAT combined score of 1125+.
- Chemistry/Lab, Anatomy & Physiology/Lab, and Microbiology/Lab must be complete prior to application deadline.
- Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 must be earned in the following science courses prior to entering professional program: Chemistry/Lab, Anatomy & Physiology/Lab, Microbiology/Lab, Pathophysiology, Pharmacology.

- Grades in Chemistry/Lab, Anatomy & Physiology/Lab, and Microbiology/Lab. Repeated science courses impact application.

- Essay describing motivation for pursuing a career in nursing.
- Previous bachelor's degree.
CHP and WSU GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS
- Earn credit for 120 cumulative hours. Elective hours may be needed.
- Earn credit in a minimum of 60 hours at a 4-year institution . Since the professional BSN program is 54 hours, students transferring from a community college may need additional coursework at WSU to meet this requirement.
- Earn credit in a minimum of 45 hours of upper-division coursework.
- Complete all general education requirements.
- Maintain a WSU and cumulative GPA ≥ 2.0 while in professional program.
- At least 24 of last 30 or 50 of last 60 credit hours must be completed at WSU.
PROFESSIONAL COURSE REQUIREMENTS
The nursing professional program totals 54 credit hours. Students must complete a minimum of 60 hours from a four-year institution.
