NOTES:
- Figures are estimates given by Host University. Figures were given in host currency and converted to United States Dollars using a floating exchange rate. As of 08/07/2024, 1 Euro (EUR) = 1.09 (USD)
- Accommodation is estimated between 250-550 Euros per month. Although there is on-campus living, many exchange students opt to share an apartment in the city.
- The amount of monthly food expenses are approximately 250-350 Euros per month.
- Local Transportation can range 50-70 Euros per month (i.e. Bus, Metro, or Train) to and from the university and throughout Barcelona.
- No exact estimate was provided by the partner university, however we estimate that you should not spend over $150 for textbooks for one semester.
- National health insurance is required for a Spanish visa. We estimate Spanish insurance at 1.90 euros a day. At 150 days (5 months) this is approximately 285 Euros. An estimated bank transfer fee of $109 is also included in the estimate.
- Student Visa is required in Spain for those whose time of study exceeds 90 days. Personal appearance is required at the Spanish consulate in Chicago. Translation is required for some visa documents and requires a translation fee. This is not included in this budget. The visa fee is $160.
- Airfare cost was provided according to Expedia as of July 2024 with travel dates of January 16, 2025 – June 2, 2025. This should provide a good estimate to cover the airfare expense.
- Personal expense estimates are provided by Financial Aid for students living on the WSU campus, which will be similar during a study abroad program.
* Tuition and Fees are based on the Resident rate for 12 undergraduate credit hours at Wichita State University. Students will pay their current tuition rate during the study abroad program based on their residency and any specific college/department requirements.
Disclaimer: All costs are estimates and subject to change. Some universities will require payment for accommodation in advance as well as other fees. In order to apply for visas, students may be required to show proof of funds, such as bank statements, to live in a host country. Please note extra travel expenses are not included. Budget accordingly.
