Major
Computer Engineering with a minor in Cybersecurity
Why I chose my major
I chose Computer Engineering because it gives me the best of both worlds—hardware
and software. I’ve always been curious about how systems work from the inside out,
and I enjoy being able to combine problem-solving, coding, and engineering design.
What I enjoy most is seeing how what I learn in the classroom applies directly to
my current role in the tech industry.
Involvement
I am an ambassador for the Student Ambassador Society and the Honors College at Wichita
State. Beyond campus, I’m involved in applied learning through Ennovar as a Software
Engineer at NetApp, where I focus on performance, benchmarking, and projects involving
AI and machine learning. I am also active in my community through St. Paul’s Catholic
Church and serve as an ACE Engineering Mentor, helping to support and guide future
engineers.
Why I chose Wichita State
I chose Wichita State because of its strong emphasis on applied learning opportunities,
which allow me to gain real-world industry experience while pursuing my degree. The
financial support I received, including a full-ride scholarship, made Wichita State
an incredible opportunity for me and my family. I’ve also benefited from the university’s
academic support and mentoring resources, which help students succeed both in and
out of the classroom. Beyond academics, I’ve really come to appreciate the great campus
culture and the location — Wichita feels like a community that invests in its students
and gives us opportunities to grow.
Favorite thing about WSU
My favorite thing about Wichita State is the strong culture of innovation and applied
learning. The university creates an environment that is both professional and career-focused,
where I can surround myself with hardworking, motivated people who inspire me to push
myself to be better. At the same time, Wichita State truly cares about its students
— providing support, resources, and opportunities that make us feel valued and set
us up for success. Having access to this kind of culture, along with opportunities
to connect academics with real-world industry experiences, makes my education very
hands-on, rewarding, and aligned with my future goals.
