Major
Political Science
Why I chose my major
I wanted to get more of an understanding of politics and government before going to
law school. I felt that by understanding political behavior I could better understand
some of the policies and laws that would influence my future career. I enjoy the history
and international relations that are woven into my major. I am also minoring in English
because I have always loved studying literary movements, and I enjoy writing. I am
on the Emory Lindquist Honors track as well.
Organizations/Involvement: I am currently involved in Student Ambassador Society (SAS)
and a Resident Assistant (RA) in the Shocker Hall dorm building.
Involvement
I am involved in the Student Government Association. Last year, I came on as an Associate
Justice, and this year, I am serving as Chief Justice of the Supreme Court. I am Secretary
for the Fairmount College Student Advisory Council and an Ambassador for Diversity
and Inclusion. I am also a member of the Pre-Law Association and the Student Ambassador
Society. Off campus, I am active at my parish as a Confirmation teacher.
Why I chose Wichita State
I was greeted with so much kindness and hospitality the times I came to campus as
a high schooler. I felt that the university was large enough to provide me with opportunity
and yet still offer a small-town feel. I love the atmosphere at Wichita State and
feel as though the community is supportive and empowering.
Favorite thing about WSU
In addition to the atmosphere, my favorite thing about Wichita State University is
its continual growth and location. As a student, it is exciting to see all the changes
happening on campus now and soon. I love that Wichita State is in a city because I
feel like there are greater opportunities for students to find jobs and internships
through the university partnerships. Additionally, I think Wichita has so many opportunities
for students that extend beyond campus life.
