HONORS AND AWARDS

There are several ways for a team or individual bowler to be nationally recognized throughout a collegiate bowling season. Nomination forms and applications are submitted yearly, by the coaching staff, for the categories listed below.

I. COLLEGIATE BOWLER OF THE YEAR - Bowling Writers' Association of America (BWAA)

The Bowling Writers' Association of America "Collegiate Bowler of the Year" Committee selects the top male and female collegiate bowlers annually as selected by the BWAA panel. Also, four BOY "Runners-Up" are selected in the Menís and Womenís divisions. Considerations for these awards will be based on complete season accomplishments in USBC Collegiate tournament play.

II. ALL-AMERICANS

Each year, ten men and ten women are selected as "All-Americans" by a ballot of elected members of the National Collegiate Bowling Coaches Association. Selection is based on intercollegiate competition during season. The top five men and women receive First -Team All-American plaques and the next five men and women receive Second-Team All-American plaques. Honorable Mention awards are given to runners-up, five men and five women.

Academic All-Americans are also recognized at this time. Recipients must have at least a 3.50 cumulative G.P.A. (on a 4-point system) and must have participated in at least one USBC Collegiate-sanctioned intercollegiate event. All students meeting these requirements receive an Academic All-American certificate.

III. ROOKIE OF THE YEAR

This award will be presented to the one man and one woman who finish highest in the respective All-American voting and are in their first year of USBC Collegiate eligibility.

IV. COLLEGIATE TOP TEN

The Collegiate Top Ten is used to report and reward both team and individual high scores nation-wide. Recognition is given for high team series, team game, individual series and individual game.

V. COLLEGIATE BOWLING POLLS

The National Collegiate Bowling Poll is produced three to four times a year by the Bowling Writers of America and the National Collegiate Bowling Coaches' Association. The poll recognizes the top 20 menís and womenís intercollegiate bowling teams in the nation. Teams are ranked by a selected panel of bowling writers and coaches. Decisions are based on tournament and conference standings for the reporting period. Additionally, throughout the college bowling season, an ongoing ìpower rankingî system is conducted by collegebowling.com.
