The School of Art, Design and Creative Industries will be hosting Clayton Staples Visiting Artists Jessica “JB” Burke and Kariann Fuqua for a panel discussion in conjunction with their collaborative exhibition A World Away.
The panel, facilitated by Robert Bubp, will run from 2:30 to 4 p.m., with a reception to immediately follow until 5:30 p.m. This event is free and open to the public.
Jessica “JB” Burke (b. 1976, Kansas) is an LGBT+ artist and educator working in North Carolina. She is an Associate Professor of Art and Foundations Coordinator at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. Working across installation, drawing and digital media, she examines world-building and its relationship with issues of identity.
Kariann Fuqua (b. 1976, Oklahoma) is an abstract artist using drawing and painting to investigate the edges of environmental disaster. She received her BFA in painting from Kansas State University and an MFA in painting from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign.
