Wichita State University Opera Theater, under the direction of Professor Alan Held, will present the annual "Scenes and Songs" performance at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 24, in Wiedemann Hall.
"Scenes and Songs" has become one of the favorite performances on the yearly opera calendar since its inception in 2018. This year, the 60-minute performance features vignettes from multiple opera classics, including “The Tenderland”, “The Rake’s Progress”, “Mass”, “Trouble in Tahiti”, “A Little Night Music”, “Mefistofele”, and "Die Zauberflöte”.
Experience the exceptional talent of Wichita State University Opera Theater, recognized as a leader in opera performance and education. Our productions feature outstanding individual instruction, fully staged operas with orchestra, and scene programs, often presented in the original language. Students develop their skills through a comprehensive curriculum that includes history, style, and acting classes, as well as master classes and performances throughout South Central Kansas.
