We are pleased to announce our three 2026 Fairmount College of Liberal Arts and Sciences Hall of Fame honorees. Induction into the Fairmount College Hall of Fame is the highest recognition of outstanding alumni who have had a significant impact on the region, nation, and world. The induction ceremony will take place at 2 p.m., Feb. 3, 2026, in Wiedemann Hall.
Warren E. Pickett 1969, BS-Physics and Mathematics; 1971, MS-Physics
Pickett is a leading international expert in the field of high-temperature superconductors. He spent 18 years as a scientist at the U.S. Naval Research Laboratory before being hired by the University of California at Davis as a distinguished professor of physics.
Robert E. Shields, 1968, BA-Political Science
Shields built a solid career as one of the top litigators in the Southeast. Before retirement, he vigorously pursued cases against tobacco companies. He is considered an expert on hazardous waste and toxic torts.
Scott W. Stucky, 1970, BA-History
Stucky was appointed by former president George W. Bush in 2006 to serve on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Armed Forces. He became chief judge of the body in August 2017, and, upon the expiration of his term of service in August 2021, was named senior judge.
