Join the Society of Women Engineers (SWE), STEM Nation Living Learning Community, TRIO SSS-STEM Office, and 10 other STEM-based Registered Student Organizations for a fun, hands-on welcome event designed especially for incoming STEM students!

Plant Your Roots in STEM offers new Shockers the chance to meet fellow STEM students, connect with student leaders, and learn about campus resources—all before classes even begin. During this relaxed, low-pressure evening, students will decorate their own plastic laboratory beaker with STEM-themed stickers and pot a small succulent to take home as a symbol of new beginnings.

Beyond the hands-on activity, attendees can look forward to informal networking with current students and organization volunteers, a brief welcome and resource spotlight, a STEM Advice Station featuring encouragement from current students, and a Community Growth Board where students can reflect on their goals for the year ahead. Attendance will be tracked digitally and can be submitted upon request.

Whether you're looking to build friendships, discover ways to get involved in STEM organizations, or simply enjoy a relaxing evening before the semester starts, this event is the perfect way to plant the roots of your Shocker STEM journey.
