Certification of Financial Support
All international students on F-1 or J-1 visas are required by federal law to prove that they have sufficient financial resources to study in the U.S. To assist Wichita State University in determining if you have sufficient funds to pay for your education, please complete one or both of the certifications below.
INSTRUCTIONS:
1) Identify which of the certification forms below you will need to complete depending
on who will be paying for your education. If your education will be paid for with
both personal funds and some kind of government or business support, you will need
to complete BOTH forms.
2) VERY IMPORTANT: Download the appropriate form(s) and open them in Adobe Reader. DO NOT OPEN AND COMPLETE THE FORMS IN YOUR WEB BROWSER. You should open the forms
in Adobe Reader and complete them there.
3) If your education will be paid for using personal funds or loans, your sponsor
will need to electronically sign the Certification of Financial Support. If desired,
the completed certification can be printed and signed by your sponsor with a handwritten
signature.
4) Gather a bank statement, bank letter, or other evidence of financial support as
explained at https://wichita.edu/FinSupportDocs.
5) Submit your completed Certification of Financial Support and bank documents as
follows:
- New Undergraduate Applicants – Submit when applying for admission (How to Apply)
- New Graduate Applicants – Submit when applying for admission (Graduate Application Checklist)
- Current or Former WSU Students – Submit to iss@wichita.edu

| Certification of Financial Support – Personal Funds and Loans (MOST COMMON) |
This form is for students who are being sponsored with personal funds from a parent, family member, or friend. Students who will be using a loan to pay for their education or are using personal funds to sponsor themselves should also complete this form. |
| Certification of Financial Support – Government or Business | Use this form if you are being sponsored by your government, an organization, employer, or scholarship agency. You should also use this form if your education will be paid for using funds from a business – including a business that a parent, family member, or friend might own and operate. If funded by a business, please note that all bank documents must list the business as the account holder. |
| Certification of Financial Support – OPT Students | If you are a WSU student who is currently on OPT and would like a spouse or dependent to join you in the U.S., email iss@wichita.edu to request a special Certification of Financial Support form. |
