Overview

Tia Owens is a professional with a passion for providing high-quality service to both internal and external customers in a high-paced environment while being completely at ease with working collaboratively in a team environment. Tia's career choices have always encompassed supporting innovation and collaborative efforts in the local community. 

Tia's work experience includes positions in various organizations, including the Wichita State University College of Innovation and Design, Wichita State University – TRIO Kansas Kids @ Gear Up, Educational Talent Search, and Registrar’s Office, Wichita Public Schools USD259, and Barton County Community College TRIO - Student Support Services, among others. Incidentally, Tia is a proud TRIO (Student Support Services) alumna.

Tia has an impressive track record in her professional career, having consistently provided diverse populations with comprehensive information regarding the post-secondary navigation process, career development, and successful life skill management empowerment. Furthermore, she possesses a talent for being exceptionally well-organized and attentive to details, and she excels at acquiring new and ever-changing information and communicating it to others in a clear and effective way.

Tia has a strong academic background in human services, liberal arts, and innovation and design. She earned a Bachelor of Art from Fort Hays State University and went on to earn a Master of Liberal Arts and Studies degree from Wichita State University. She is currently enrolled in the Master of Innovation and Design graduate program at Wichita State University and is expected to graduate in May 2024. Tia also earned a Graduate Certificate in Museum Studies from Wichita State University, in December 2022.

In 2017, Tia was honored with the Good Apple Award from the Wichita Public School District USD 259. In May 2022, she was selected as a Graduate Student of the Year Finalist at Wichita State University. 

Tia is an active member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, and she also serves as the On-Campus Graduate Advisor for the Epsilon Alpha Undergraduate Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. at Wichita State University.
