Areas of Research Interest
  • Conducted IRB (Institutional Review Board) approval from Emporia State University for a research proposal on how self-care impacts burnout in news reporters, with implications for journalism quality. 
  • Conducted a mixed-methods group study at ESU on the lack of seating options for students with diverse body types. 
    • Utilized surveys, petitions, and classroom inventory to gather data. 
    • Collected over 200 petition signatures advocating for more accessible desk spaces on campus.
    • The findings of this study led to the implementation of improved seating options on campus.

  • Current acting Graduate Teaching Assistant for the Emporia State Honors College: Responsibilities include time coordinating events and structuring a supportive environment for some of ESU's highest achieving students.
  • Year-long graduate assistant for ESU's Career Services: Responsibilities are ensuring students achieve occupational/educational success.
  • Resident Assistant for the "Building Relationships, Inclusion, Diversity, and Global Equity (BRIDGE) program. 
  • Former Positive Psychology student campus representative for the Div.17 American Psychological Association.

Other Interests

Has a strong commitment to mental wellness, equity, and systematic change through evidence-based advocacy. 

  • Long-term goals: Working with clients whose professional roles expose them to emotionally traumatic stimuli or high levels of stress. This includes first responders, news reporters, and therapists. 
  • Aims to work in an Employee assistance program where Allie can create a supportive environment for professionals to find balance in their careers. 
    • Also aims to conduct community outreach with the intention of reducing stigma in the workplace.
