Qualifications
To establish eligibility for program services, the student:
- Must be a U.S. Citizen
- Must be an undergraduate student pursuing their first bachelor’s degree
- Must provide verified documentation* of a disability (i.e. learning, physical, and/or mental)
- May also be first-generation and/or limited-income student
*All documentation is confidential information and is protected as such.
How to Apply
- Complete and submit the TRIO DSS Online Application
- Complete the Income Verification Form – See below for instructions on completing this form:
Dependent Students – You are a dependent student if the following apply to you:
√ under the age of 24
√ unmarried
√ have no children
If you are a dependent student, the link to this form may be easily copied and sent
to a parent/guardian so they can complete and submit it.
Independent Students – You are an independent student if any of the following apply to you:
√ over the age of 24
√ married
√ have children
√ active-duty military or veteran
√ were in foster care at any point under the age of 18
If you are an independent student, this form must be signed by you (the student).
- Submit documentation of disability (physical, mental, and/or learning) in one of the
following ways:
- If you are already registered with the Office of Student Accommodations and Testing, you may authorize us to verify your documentation on file with them when you sign the TRIO DSS application.
- Documentation of your disability (IEP/504, medical records from a doctor/therapist, etc.) may be uploaded directly into the TRIO DSS application; or
- Sent to us by emailing trio.dss@wichita.edu, faxing 316-978-5948, or by bringing hard copies in person to TRIO DSS office.
