Memorial '70 remembrance for WSU plane crash set for Oct. 2

Sept. 28, 2026 — The annual remembrance of Memorial ’70 will be held at 9 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 2, at the memorial sculpture at the university entrance at Memorial Drive and Hillside (18th and Hillside).

Celebrate community and tradition at the 2026 Shocktoberfest

Sept. 24, 2026 — Wichita State University invites the community to show its black-and-yellow spirit during 2026 Shocktoberfest, a weeklong tradition of Shocker pride from Monday, Sept. 28 through Saturday, Oct. 3.

Wichita State’s John Tomblin elected to AIAA associate fellow class of 2027

Sept. 24, 2026 — The American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA) has elected Dr. John Tomblin to the grade of Associate Fellow, class of 2027, recognizing his exceptional leadership and global technical excellence in aerospace engineering. Tomblin is executive vice president for research and Industry and Defense Programs at Wichita State University and executive director of the National Institute for Aviation Research (NIAR).

Six Shockers inducted into Wichita State’s College of Education Hall of Fame

Sept. 16, 2026 — Wichita State University ’s College of Education   will induct  six Shockers int o its Hall of Fame during a celebration on Sept.  25.
