Now Available 2023 Kansas Housing Forecast

The WSU Center for Real Estate released its 2023 Kansas Housing Markets Forecast series this week. The publications in this series review current housing market conditions in the major markets across the state — including Kansas City, Lawrence, Manhattan, Topeka and Wichita — and forecast housing market activity through the end of 2023. The series also includes housing outlooks for 23 smaller markets across the state.

Oct. 3, 2022 — A research team led by researchers with Wichita State’s College of Engineering and Fairmount College of Liberal Arts and Sciences recently received funding from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) for their proposal, "The Development of a Smart Telehealth ECG and Human Activity Monitoring System to Improve Cardiovascular health of Older Adults."

Sept. 29, 2022 — Combined enrollment by headcount across all Wichita State University locations for fall 2022 is 21,942, according to the annual data released today by the Kansas Board of Regents (KBOR).

Josh Oeding, President and CEO of NXTUS, Inc., and Founder and General Partner of Tenzing Capital, is joining the ranks of member for the Dean’s Advisory Board of the W. Frank Barton School of Business at Wichita State University. Oeding is an alumnus of the Barton School and will begin his term on the board in Fall 2022.

Wreath at Memorial

At 9 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 2, Wichita State will host the 52nd observance of Memorial '70, the annual ceremony that honors the 31 WSU football players, administrators and supporters who died in a 1970 plane crash in the Rocky Mountains. It will take place at the Memorial near 18th and Hillside.

September 26, 2022 - The Wichita State University Board of Trustees approved funding in September 2022 for phases 1A and 1B for the capital improvement plan to replace Cessna Stadium for a total project cost of approximately $11.8 million.

The new building at the Youngmeyer Ranch will provide researchers with storage, laboratory space and overnight housing. The facility is constructed to be ecologically friendly and weather durable, and was funded entirely by donors.

Sept. 21, 2022 — The Tallgrass Film Festival has become a staple in Wichita’s arts community during the last 20 years, engaging audiences with world-class programming in a celebration of cinematic arts. The festival is known for connecting film-savvy audiences with cutting-edge filmmakers from all over the world, providing a unique experience throughout the four-day festival. 

Widener Global Leaders Program 2022-2023 Class

The Widener Global Leaders Program is in full swing after the monumental success it had in its first year during the 2021-2022 school season. The WGLP is a yearlong, interdisciplinary program focused on developing women leaders with a global, innovative mindset led by the W. Frank Barton School of Business and in close collaboration with the Fairmount College of Liberal Arts and Sciences and College of Fine Arts at Wichita State University.

Dr. Duane Nagel

The W. Frank Barton School of Business at Wichita State University has announced that Dr. Duane Nagel has been selected at the chair for the college’s marketing department. Nagel has worked within the Barton School for more than six years as an assistant and associate professor.

Dr. Christine Porter

The W. Frank Barton School of Business has named Dr. Christine Porter as its new School of Accountancy director. Porter is replacing Dr. Greg Merrill who left in August.
