Aug. 5, 2020 — Dr. Bill Groutas, Wichita State University medical chemist, is part of a team that has published a study showing a possible therapeutic treatment for COVID-19.

This last week in America has laid bare that we have much to do as a country, and as individuals, to right the many wrongs against men and women in the African American community. The hurt and anger are real. It’s not 1968, but it looks like it in many ways. Unjust killings, peaceful protests, and citizen advocacy are followed by more brutality, looting and riots.

Meeting the needs of employers and students just got easier. Beginning fall semester, graduate students may pursue an 18 credit hour certificate in space sciences. Also beginning in August, undergraduate students may weave a 13 credit hour certificate in environment and sustainability into their plans for a bachelor’s degree, without adding additional hours.

Aug. 5, 2020 - Wichita State Athletics will introduce mobile ticketing for the 2020-21 season for the sports of volleyball, men's and women's basketball, baseball and softball. The move to mobile ticketing will provide greater convenience and a safer environment for fans. It will offer a contactless entry into athletic venues and the ability to transfer tickets electronically, eliminating physical touching concerns prevalent during this time. Mobile ticketing will also provide an added layer of security, guarding against the production of fraudulent and counterfeit tickets.

AUG 5, 2020 -- During each month for the next 12 months, we will release 11 Shocker pride points for a total of 125 by next June. Wichita State is the greatest metropolitan university in the United States, and these points prove it.

August 4, 2020 - KSBDC helps entrepreneurs start and grow their businesses. They are a federally funded organization that is located on the Wichita State campus.

July 29, 2020 -- With health and safety prioritized, Wichita State University’s food, retail and common spaces will adjust hours, layout and cleaning schedules as students return for the fall semester.

July 27, 2020 - Wichita State University student Kristen Bruce works as a software tester for Flint Hills Group, founded by Shocker alum Dave Cunningham. Over the past year, Bruce played an important role in Flint Hills Group’s work with McAlister, a fuel distributor and wholesaler in Wellington. McAlister needed to replace its software used to monitor fuel flow for billing. Bruce helped Flint Hills Group beat coming issues and move to a new system, while some of McAlister’s competition encountered problems.

July 23, 2020 — The Advanced Robotics Manufacturing (ARM) Institute, which receives funding from the U.S. Department of Defense, recently awarded Wichita State $250,000 to assist in creating a workforce development database focused on compiling a map of educational programs and resources that provide skills required for today’s advanced robotics and manufacturing careers.
