What degree will you be earning in May?

Master of Music in choral conducting

What is your hometown?

Wichita

What schools did you attend before coming to Wichita State?

Wichita Northeast Magnet High School

When you were a little kid, what did you want to be when you grew up?

A doctor: I thought I would be traveling the world practicing medicine.

What made you choose Wichita State University?

I chose Wichita State for the opportunity to work with my advisor, Dr. Ryan Beeken, and the opportunities that came with a graduate assistantship.

Did you receive any scholarships to attend Wichita State?

I auditioned for and received a graduate assistantship, which gave me learning opportunities to work with choirs every day. It allowed me to spend more time on campus learning.

What applied learning experiences did you participate in during your time here?

I worked with four choirs while at Wichita, and a part of my graduation requirements involved putting a choir together and putting on a concert that I prepared.

What advice would you give other Wichita State students?

School is a chance to change and better your skills. The purpose of school is to change. Take this chance to change and grow, even though it will be scary and intimidating. The chance of success is always accompanied, and often preceded by, the chance of failure. Do it anyway.

What are your plans after graduation?

I will be moving to Colorado to teach high school choir.

Fun question: You suddenly find yourself in the middle of a dance battle. What's the first move you're gonna hit 'em with?

The shuffle-ball-step or the "Mikhail Special"
