Academic Appeals

The process of Academic Appeals is available for students who believe they have been treated unfairly in grading. Any student may use the appeals procedure. All student Academic Appeals are coordinated by the Provost and Senior Vice President. All efforts should be made to resolve the issue with the instructor. If this issue cannot be resolved with the instructor, the student should contact the chair of the department where the course is listed before submitting an appeal to the Associate Vice Provost for Student Success and Persistence in Academic Affairs. Please review the policy carefully in order to ensure that you have taken all of the necessary steps before submitting the appeal.

The student may print the policy and procedures from the links below or may pick up the paperwork in the office of Academic Affairs (109 Morrison Hall).

  • Review Wichita State University policy 8.20 concerning the procedures of the Court of Student Academic Appeals
  • Please explain clearly the reasons for requesting a change of grade. Present all the evidence that you possess that is pertinent to any such request.  You may arrange to have witnesses or counsel from the faculty, staff, and/or student body of Wichita State University appear with you at the hearing or submit written affidavits in your behalf.  Please present evidence on an additional sheet or sheets and attach them to the below submission.  See the Wichita State University Policy and Procedures, 8.20 / Court of Student Academic Appeal information sheet for more detail.  The Appeal form and documentation should be returned [or submitted via this form] to the Associate Vice Provost for Academic Affairs office in Morrison Hall, Room 109.
