Master of Arts
in Teaching Program

Alternative licensure options for qualified teaching candidates

Whether you're a recent college graduate or a working professional, Wichita State's Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) programs will help you gain the knowledge and practical skills vital to becoming a well-prepared, licensed teacher, combining university coursework with classroom experience.

There are two tracks available to complete your teaching license. These programs are offered for students who already hold a bachelor's degree in the subject they want to teach and who are seeking their initial teaching license through a graduate program.

If this sounds like you, Wichita State offers two pathways to help you reach your teaching goals:

Transition To Teaching Program (T2T)
Work as a full-time, paid teacher while completing requirements for licensure and degree.
ECU Residency
Work as a para-educator while completing requirements for licensure and degree.
