  • Students with last names A-L must meet with their BME faculty advisor each Fall Semester and then the Academic Success Advisor
    • Both advising sessions must be completed prior to registering for Spring courses
  • Students with last names M-Z must meet with their BME faculty advisor each Spring Semester and then the Academic Success Advisor
    • Both advising sessions must be completed prior to registering for Summer/Fall courses
  • Each semester, regardless if they must meet with their faculty advisor or not, students must meet with the Academic Success Advisor to enroll in courses
  • Students may be excused from meeting with the academic advisor (only in the semester they are required to meet with their BME faculty advisor) if:
    • Cumulative GPA is at least a 2.500
    • No academic related holds on their student account (missing transcripts, Freshmen hold, Orientation hold, etc.)
    • Student has completed two full (Fall and Spring) semesters of courses as a BME major
    • Student does not require any paperwork be completed (Workforce, VA, Athletics, Study Abroad, etc.)
  • The Academic Success Advisor reserves the right to request an advising appointment with any students who meet the above criteria, where there is a concern regarding student's academic success (sudden decrease in academic performance, concerns expressed from their course instructor, excess course withdraws, history of enrolling in non-advised courses, etc.)
  • If you have completed your Senior Check, you are not required to do faculty advising or academic advising. If you wish to still meet with the Academic Success Advisor, please follow the scheduling process outlined below.
  • To schedule an academic advising appointment with the Academic Success Advisor, you must send an e-mail to BMEadvising@wichita.edu with the following information:
    • Full name
    • Student WSUID number
    • Three different days and times you are available
    • If you will need a scholarship letter, paperwork for athletics, or additional financial aid type paperwork completed during your appointment, you must indicate that in your e-mail so enough time is allocated
    • You will receive an e-mail response from Heather that will tell you when you appointment will be. Plan to arrive 10 minutes early and arrive with an idea of what classes you wish to take in the next semester
    • If you are more than 10 minutes late, we reserve the right to make you reschedule your appointment
