IEEE-HKN Induction

Being Inducted into the IEEE-HKN

Joining IEEE-HKN is by invitation only. Membership is a lifelong designation for individuals who have distinguished themselves as students or as professionals in electrical engineering, computer engineering, computer science, and other fields of IEEE interests.

Eligibility, naturally, must depend on marked ability, as evidence by scholarship, personal character, useful volunteer services, and distinguished accomplishments, all of which indicate that the candidate will be or is a success in his or her profession. For undergraduate students, eligibility must depend largely on the records established during the first two or three years in college.

Who can join?

Undergraduate Students

All students of the Electrical Engineering and Computer Science Department who have completed:

One-third of degree requirements and whohave a cumulative scholastic rank in the upper fifth of their class.
One-half of the degree requirements and who have acumulative scholastic rank in the upper quarter of their class.
Three-fourths of their degree requirementsand have acumulative scholastic rank in the upper third of their class.

Graduate Students

All students of the Electrical Engineering and Computer Science Department who have a cumulative GPA above 3.25 are eligible to become members of HKN. They have the right to hold office, serve on committees, and actively participate.

Faculty

All faculty of the Electrical Engineering and Computer Science Department with the rank of Assistant Professor or higher should be considered for HKN membership. ProfessionalsElectrical Engineers, Computer Engineers, and Computer Scientists who have a distinguished record may be initiated by the chapter
