Industrial, Systems & Manufacturing Engineering
The Industrial, Systems and Manufacturing Engineering (ISME) Department requires two independent semester-long projects for our Industrial Engineering (IE) undergraduate students and one semester-long project for our Product, Design, and Manufacturing Engineering (PDME) students. We focus our projects on industrial, systems, and manufacturing engineering topics such as process improvements and optimization, lean manufacturing, design for manufacturability, facility layout, ergonomics, information systems, data analytics, quality improvement, energy efficiency/sustainability, and supply chain. This semester, we completed ten projects across a diverse range of industries including food service, agricultural and construction equipment manufacturing, aircraft manufacturing, medical service, and custom equipment and component manufacturing. These projects address a variety of topics including ergonomic evaluations and improvement recommendations, tooling and inventory management solutions, analysis and recommendations for improving methods and processes, and facility planning and layout recommendations.
