Ricki Ellison, Vice President of Talent, Workforce, and Community Engagement at the Greater Wichita Partnership hosted an interactive workshop that brought students into the discussion of how words, tone and audience segmentation influence the way messages are received by community members. Ricki walked attendees through a guided discussion about a real-world situation the Greater Wichita Partnership is currently researching.  Students learned the importance of language and tone in communication work and practiced the ways they can leverage their talent and expertise to make a difference in their own circles. After the presentation, attendees got to mingle, network and decorate sugar cookies together.

Jadyn Stutey: Comms Strategist, Podcaster & Content Creator, shared her career story working for a boutique PR agency and as a lifestyle influencer. Jadyn has led high-profile campaigns across industries, from supporting celebrity talent during brand activations at Beyoncé’s Cowboy Carter tour to producing multi-day programming experiences and press moments for global B2B brands at Cannes Lions. She specializes in creative strategy, talent/client relations, experiential planning and integrated communications that connect brands to culture. Jadyn even let the student attendees get involved by presenting them with real-world case studies to discuss at their tables. After the presentation ended, everyone enjoyed some casual networking time with dirty sodas catered by Just a Sip. 


11 a.m. Thursday Oct. 9, 2025 - Marcus Welcome Center

Jennica King and Madison Murray — a dynamic communication team from the Sedgwick County Zoo presented to students in October 2025. Jennica King is the Director of Marketing and Communication at the Sedgwick County Zoo. Madison Murray is the Communications Coordinator at the Sedgwick County Zoo. After the presentation, attendees mingled, networked and had the oportunity to make their own ice cream sundaes.
