Pollution Prevention

The EFC is partnered with the Kansas State University Pollution Prevention Institute to improve community awareness of harmful air emissions at painting and coating facilities. Through calls with industry leaders, events with the community, and training opportunities, this project seeks to engage and inform the Wichita community on how to improve air quality in areas surrounding manufacturing facilities with painting and coating activities.

There are several ways to be involved!

Aerospace and Autobody Industry Calls

Are you an aerospace manufacturing business? Are you an automotive design or repair business? Do you using painting and coating techniques? If so, we want your input on how to engage with businesses to improve air quality. We will host several calls to discuss challenges associated with improving air quality, workforce development, and community outreach. Register below for upcoming calls.

Community Events

These community events will bring together employers, health organizations, and community groups to inform and educate the public on the hazards associated with toxic air emissions and how to reduce those effects. Employers will also be available to share opportunities with the community.

Emissions Reduction Training

We will host 2 training workshops in association with KSU PPI and the Iowa Waste Reduction Center. These workshops will feature hands-on skills that can be shared to empower staff to take steps toward processes that reduce air emissions. Training events will occur on July 21 or 22, 2026 at the WSU Campus of Applied Sciences and Technology. Registration is required. Learn more.
