Audition Information
Jazz auditions will be held on Thursday, August 14, in the Duerksen Fine Arts Center room C107 from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. You can sign up for a time slot using the link below.
All students wishing to audition for the Jazz Program must complete the Jazz Program Information Form
Jazz Program Information Form Jazz Audition Sign Up- There will be a short sight-reading excerpt provided to you during the audition.
- It is optional to improvise but encouraged. A backing track of a blues in concert F will be provided. If you wish to play something different, please provide your backing track.

- Tempo for the trumpet etude is 138 bpm
- Tempo for the sax etude is 144 bpm
- Tempo for the tenor trombone is 132 bpm
Rhythm section excerpts:
- Guitar and piano - In addition to sight-reading, play the etude at the indicated tempo, following the directions at the bottom of the page. A play-along track will be provided for both sight-reading and etude.
- Bass - In addition to sight-reading, play the etude at the indicated tempo, following the directions at the bottom of the page. A play-along track will be provided for both sight-reading and etude.
Percussion materials:
- Drums - In addition to sight-reading, be prepared to demonstrate a variety of tempos/styles. Tempos/styles will be called out by faculty.
