A campus tour at Wichita State gives an in-depth look at the many state-of-the-art amenities available to students. However, there’s even more to explore once the tour ends. Here are a few can’t‑miss spots that show off WSU’s personality and history.
Pizza Hut Museum
The original Pizza Hut started right here in Wichita by two WSU students, brothers
Dan and Frank Carney. The museum, located just south of the Marcus Welcome Center,
tells Pizza Hut's story from humble beginnings to a global brand. It’s a quick, fun,
free stop offering up a classic Pizza Hut ambiance.
Outdoor Sculpture Collection
Wichita State is home to the nationally-renowned Martin H. Bush Outdoor Sculpture
Collection. This collection of nearly 90 outdoor art pieces spans across campus and
is always free and open to the public.

Ulrich Museum of Art
Also free admission, The Ulrich is WSU’s on‑campus contemporary art museum, featuring
rotating exhibitions and pieces from nationally recognized artists. The museum boasts
more than 7,000 works from 20th and 21st century artists.
Food Truck Plaza
Located southwest of Woolsey Hall right next to the Promise Bridge, this plaza hosts
rotating local food trucks throughout the year. It’s a great place to grab lunch in
the shade and try something with a local flair!
Braeburn Square
WSU’s modern retail and dining district features restaurants including Social Tap,
Two Hands Corn Dogs, Fuzzy's Taco Shop and more! It’s a popular hangout for Shockers
and a convenient spot for families during campus visits.
Rhatigan Student Center
While it’s often included on tours, it’s worth exploring more on your own. The RSC
is the heart of student life, with dining options such as Freddy's Frozen Custard,
Panda Express and Chick-fil-A. It is also home to the largest Shocker Store location
for the best WSU merch!
Heskett Center Pickleball Courts
Wichita State's pickleball courts were recently rebuilt in between the Heskett Center
and Hubbard Hall. Campus Recreation oversees the courts, which are a popular place
for those wanting something active to do.
All of these spots - and more - are great places to go before or after an official campus visit to Wichita State. Make some time for these stops during a visit to get the full picture of why more and more students choose WSU.
