Watkins Visiting Professor Dr. Gregory Fuchs will give a technical lecture titled, "Imagining the Switching of Antiferromagnetic and Multiferroic Devices using Single Spin Microscopes."
Gregory D. Fuchs, Ph.D., is a professor of applied and engineering physics at Cornell University. His thesis research on spin-transfer torques in nanoscale magnetic tunnel junctions contributed to the physics underlying modern magnetic random access memory. For his postdoc research at the University of California, Santa Barbara, he studied quantum control over individual spins in diamond for quantum applications.
In 2011, he joined the Cornell Department of Applied and Engineering Physics, where his group works broadly in spintronics and quantum engineering using spin. His current research interests include high resolution magnetic microscopy, antiferromagnetic spintronics, coherent magnonics, quantum metrology with spins, and development of hybrid quantum systems.
