About the exhibition:
UnNatural Instinct explores the strange space where intuition, impulse, and imagination mutate beyond the familiar. Bringing together works that embrace the uncanny, surreal, and psychologically charged, the exhibition invites artists to challenge conventional ideas of behavior, identity, and reality itself.

Featuring original work by current students and recent graduates in WSU’s School of Art, Design and Creative Industries, the exhibition is meant to embrace the weird. The unsettling. The inexplicable.

Guest judge Johannah Cairns will award a Best in Show award at the opening reception, Friday, July 3.

About Johannah Cairns:
Johannah Cairns joins the Bethany College faculty beginning fall 2026. Cairns is a multidisciplinary artist. She holds a BA in Visual Art from the University of Kansas, a post-Baccalaureate Artisanry Ceramics Certificate from University of Massachusetts Dartmouth, and an MFA in Ceramics from Ohio University.
