12th annual Kansas Gender & Sexuality Conference

will be held on Friday, March 6th, 2026

on the campus of Wichita State University

Call for Presentations

We are currently seeking submissions of original research, training/workshops, and other artistic scholarly activity related to gender and/or sexuality from students, faculty, scholars, staff, community organizations, and interested others associated with a college/university or community in Kansas from any discipline. Presenters may present individually or in a group.

Presentation Formats:

Traditional presentations are oral presentations that are about 15-20 minutes long and include a visual aid of some sort (power point, video, etc).

Workshops are longer (30 or 60 minutes) and include an interactive or applied learning component. Presenters may present individually or in a group. This year we also introduce a panel discussion presentation option.

This year, we also provide the opportunity to organize a panel discussion.

How to Submit:

Using the submission link (see call out button), you will enter basic information about presenters as well as a presentation title and a brief (200-300 word) abstract summarizing the topic, importance, research questions, relevant methods/theories/creative approaches, and key findings, outcomes, implications, and/or learning goals.

For proposed panels, include an introduction to the general topic, a list of panel members who have agreed to participate (including affiliation/form of expertise), and examples of a few potential discussion questions or talking points for panelists.

Submission deadline:

  • The priority deadline for submissions is 11:59 pm Wednesday, February 4, 2026.

Conference Goals

The primary goals for this free conference are to:

  • create interdisciplinary connections and dialogue among gender and sexuality scholars within Kansas,
  • promote the dissemination of gender and sexuality related research, evidence-based practice, creative works, and reflection in a safe environment,
  • provide students an opportunity to gain experience presenting their work,
  • create bridges across the academic/community divide, and
  • foster an engaged learning experience for attendees.
