The Applied Innovation Center (AIC)
The Applied Innovation Center (AIC) is a dedicated prototyping, collaboration, and evaluation facility located in Huntsville, Alabama, focused on accelerating innovation and technology adoption within the Department of War (DoW).
The primary mission of the AIC is to identify, develop, and integrate cutting-edge technologies and solutions which enhance DoW operational capabilities. By providing this platform the AIC facilitates collaboration between U.S. Government representatives and commercial technology developers aiming to accelerate the integration of innovative solutions into the DoW modernization ecosystem and ultimately into the hands of the warfighter.
This collaborative approach allows DoW material developers to tap into a broad innovation ecosystem and leverage the expertise and resources available from a wide variety of stakeholders with unparalleled flexibility and speed.

AIC awards DornerWorks a Phase II Board Support Package contract
The FirePoint Applied Innovation Center awarded DornerWorks Ltd a Phase II fixed-price contract with a six-month period of performance to study and evaluate the benefits of Open Virtual I/O Devices for Army avionics applications. Phase I of the Board Support Package effort was completed by the AIC in October 2023.
