Michael Goldberg is a finance and economics student whose energy and initiative reflect the Barton School’s commitment to innovation and applied learning. He chose Wichita State University for its close connections with industry and for the real-world opportunities that prepare students to lead.
Michael is a founding member of the Cummings Student Managed Investment Fund, where he serves as Fund Selection Team Leader. He has represented WSU at conferences in New York and Chicago, participated in Collegiate DECA, and served on the Dean’s Student Advisory Board. He is also a Koch Scholar and a member of Beta Gamma Sigma.
Among his proudest achievements are helping to build CSMIF from the ground up, placing second in Sports Marketing at the Collegiate DECA ICDC Nationals in San Francisco, and studying abroad in Barcelona. Each experience has shaped his perspective and deepened his understanding of business and teamwork.
Michael speaks Russian fluently and has a pet parrot that has been part of his family for more than three decades. These personal details reveal a side of him that is both globally minded and grounded in loyalty and curiosity.
He credits his close friends with inspiring him the most. They share high expectations, career focus, and humor, reminding him that success is more rewarding when shared.
Michael chose the Barton School because of its strong ties to Wichita’s business community and the opportunity to study in an environment where students are supported and challenged. His dual majors in finance and economics give him a holistic view of decision-making and market behavior, skills that will serve him throughout his career.
Being recognized as one of Barton’s 25 Under 25 represents not only Michael’s hard work but also his dedication to elevating the people and programs around him. His story embodies ambition, gratitude, and the determination to keep learning from every experience.
