Rene Luna Reyes is a finance and economics major whose story embodies ambition, resilience, and heart. As the first in his family to attend college, he views every accomplishment as a shared victory with those who supported him along the way.
Rene chose the Barton School for its commitment to student success and scholarship support, which made college possible for him. He has immersed himself in the campus community, serving as a Business Senator and Commissioner for the Student Government Association, a member of the Cummings Student Managed Investment Fund, and a participant in EDGE Academy and HALO. He also competed in the Cornhusker Case Competition as part of the Consulting Club.
Among his many experiences, studying abroad in Berlin stands out as transformative. Immersed in another culture, Rene gained a deeper appreciation for history, art, and storytelling, which ignited his dream of becoming a film director someday. He hopes to combine his financial expertise and creative vision to build businesses that connect culture and technology.
Rene’s greatest inspiration comes from his family, especially his parents, whose perseverance and faith taught him that success is about lifting others along the way. He honors their legacy by working to create opportunities for his younger brothers and his community.
Outside his academic life, Rene collects analog watches. These traditional mechanical treasures remind him to value craftsmanship and time itself.
Being recognized as one of Barton’s 25 Under 25 is an achievement that fills Rene with gratitude. It marks a journey of hard work, faith, and family, and a commitment to creating a future defined by hope and impact.
