Teresa Nguyen
Major: Management
Expected graduation: Fall 2026
Hometown: Wichita, Kansas
Teresa Nguyen believes growth begins on the other side of hesitation. She tells new students to act on the things that feel intimidating, whether that means attending a club meeting alone or starting a conversation with a classmate. That simple habit has shaped her college experience and opened doors to community, leadership, and purpose.
Teresa switched to Business Management after discovering how energized she felt while organizing projects and leading teams in student organizations. She found fulfillment in helping people succeed together, and the major gave her a framework for developing that talent. Her involvement is broad and intentional. In Sigma Psi Zeta Sorority, Inc., she has served as External Vice President, Social Chair, Cultural Greek Council Representative, Fundraising Chair, and Youth and Education Chair. She volunteers with the Asian Student Conference as a coordinator, serves on the Community Service Board, and performs with the All Saints Lion Dance Team. Each role strengthened specific skills while reinforcing her commitment to service and inclusion.
Her most meaningful achievement has been building the supportive community that surrounds her today. Teresa describes arriving at college as a shy student who was unsure of her path. By stepping into organizations, she met people who challenged and encouraged her. Those relationships gave her the confidence to say yes to opportunities and to trust that a strong network stands behind her decisions. That shift in perspective has been transformative.
Teresa is proud of tangible tests of grit, including walking 17 miles in July heat. She did not expect to go that far, yet she kept moving and learned that dedication applies across life. She is inspired by her own past setbacks, which she has reframed as fuel. The lesson is clear. Failure is information, and effort aligned with values creates momentum.
Looking ahead, Teresa plans to secure an internship that builds connections to post graduation roles. Recognition as one of Barton’s 25 Under 25 represents the fulfillment of goals she set the moment she arrived on campus. It validates service and leadership and motivates her to keep making a difference. Her outlook is practical and optimistic, rooted in courage, community, and the belief that small steps lead to meaningful change.
