Overview
Jill S. Docking is a respected investment specialist, philanthropist, and civic leader whose career reflects a deep and enduring commitment to the vitality of Kansas and its people. She began her investment career in 1988 as Vice President of Investments at A.G. Edwards, building a strong foundation in wealth management and client-centered service. In 2015, she co-founded The Docking Group at Baird Private Wealth Management with her son, Brian Docking, reflecting both her entrepreneurial spirit and commitment to legacy leadership.
Throughout her career, Jill has focused on strengthening Kansas’s future by investing in people, opportunity, and long-term community well-being. She spearheaded a landmark, statewide financial literacy initiative that delivered age-appropriate financial fitness education to students across Kansas—reaching children and young people during their formative school years and equipping them with essential financial life skills. In recent years, her philanthropic leadership has expanded to advancing mental health care across the state, including helping raise significant funding for a children’s mental health hospital and supporting pediatric psychiatry fellowships through the University of Kansas Medical School.
Jill’s extensive public service reflects leadership at the community, state, and national levels. While her contributions span numerous civic, educational, and philanthropic organizations, notable examples include her service as Chair of the Kansas Board of Regents and her appointment to the Defense Advisory Committee on Women in the Services, advising the United States Department of Defense on policies affecting women serving in the U.S. military.
She currently serves on numerous boards, including the Executive Board of the KU Endowment Association, the Kansas Health Foundation, the Executive Board of the University of Kansas Medical Center–Wichita, Heartspring, the Hall Center for the Humanities, the Dean’s Advisory Council for the College of Health Professions at Wichita State University, and as a Trustee of Southwestern College. Across every role, Jill is known not only for her strategic leadership, but for her deep care for people and her belief that strong communities begin with opportunity, education, and well-being.
