Overview
In 2008, a group of local leaders recruited Jeff Fluhr from Baton Rouge to Wichita to serve as the president of the Wichita Downtown Development Corporation, now Downtown Wichita. In 2015, Fluhr’s responsibilities expanded to assist in creating the Greater Wichita Partnership, an economic development organization focused on developing a unique, holistic approach to community growth from downtown to the ten-county region.
The Partnership is designed to align and focus efforts to ensure the Wichita region remains competitive through three strategic priorities – Jobs, Talent and Quality of Place. Under Fluhr’s leadership, Wichita and the surrounding region has experienced an unprecedented surge of progress, driven by a strategic and cohesive vision. For every dollar invested in the Partnership, an impressive $185 has been driven in capital expenditures and $34 in annual payroll. Notably, since 2010, more than $1.6 billion has been invested in the downtown core with an additional $760 million in the development pipeline. Wichita is growing and thriving, and Fluhr’s pivotal contributions have been instrumental in its success.
Prior to coming to Wichita, Fluhr served as the assistant executive director of the Baton Rouge Downtown Development District. He holds a bachelor’s degree in landscape architecture from the University of Kentucky and a master’s degree in landscape architecture from Louisiana State University, with an emphasis in urban planning and business.
Fluhr is married to Melissa, and they have two children, a son Matthew and a daughter, Anna Joy.
