RESPONSIBLE CONDUCT OF RESEARCH (RCR)

WSU Policy 9.26 / Responsible Conduct of Research (RCR) Training

Who: All University researchers, to include faculty, staff and students, who receive and/or participate in research activities that are partially or fully funded by any external source,
What: must complete, at a minimum, the RCR course titled “Externally Funded Researchers,”
How: in the CITI program prior to beginning work on any externally funded project.  Select only this course for RCR – other courses are optional:

Note for Public Health Service (PHS) sponsors (such as NIH, CDC, HRSA, SAMHSA):

In addition to completion of the RCR course in CITI “Externally Funded Researchers”, PHS/NIH requires on-going and substantive in person training in RCR (NOT-OD-10-019) for certain awards. When applicable, the Principal Investigator is responsible for providing at least 8 hours of additional training regarding the Responsible Conduct in Research to trainees, fellows, participants and scholars and is responsible for documenting this training which is subject to audit.  Instructional recommendations are included in the updated Notice: NOT-OD-22-055.
