Court Nominations
The Shocktoberfest Court will consist of 12 students, two from each academic college, who serve as role models for the entire university community. Student elected to the court must exhibit qualities such as strong leadership, good character, loyalty to Wichita State, and true Shocker Pride. Court members will be interviewed by a panel of Wichita State faculty and staff and two students will selected to hold the title of Shocker Royal!
Nominate a Candidate
The Shocktoberfest Committee encourages students, faculty, and staff to nominate students who:
- positively represent Wichita State University
- play an active role on-campus in an organization, group, and/or position of leadership
- promotes belonging and Shocker Pride
- demonstrate academic excellence
Nominations will close on Sunday, September 15 at midnight.
Candidate Requirements
- Currently enrolled, full-time, degree-seeking students
- Sophomore class standing with 30 or more credits earned as of August 2024
- 2.75 GPA or higher
- Good academic and conduct standing with Wichita State
Please note, Student Engagement & Belonging reserves the right to remove any court member who is not in good standing with or whose conduct reflects poorly on Wichita State University.
Process for Nominees
- All nominees who meet the requirements of the Shocktoberfest Court will be asked to submit an application.
- All eligible applicants will be included in a ballot based on their academic college. Members of their college will vote to select the top two candidates who will serve on the Shocktoberfest Court.
- Up to 12 members will be selected to serve on the Shocktoberfest Court. Two from each academic college.
- Shocktoberfest Court representatives are interviewed by the Shocktoberfest Committee on September 26-27.
- Court members will attend and participate in Shocktoberfest events.
- At Shocker Madness, two students will be crowned and given the title of Shocker Royal!
Interviews
Shocktoberfest Court interviews will be held in-person September 26-27. The judging panel will consist of faculty and staff of Wichita State University. The 2024 Shocktoberfest Royals will be selected based on the members of the courts application and interview.
Obligations
Those selected as court members will be required to participate in the Shocktoberfest Parade and attend Shocker Madness on Saturday, October 5. Professional attire will be required for the parade and Shocker Madness. The presence of the court will also be requested at events throughout the week including the Kick-Off, Bonfire, and The Roast. Each applicant must understand that these appearances are mandatory, and by accepting a position on the Shocktoberfest Court, are agreeing to fulfill them.
