The Shocktoberfest Court consists of twelve (12) Wichita State students who have demonstrated qualities such as strong leadership, good character, loyalty to Wichita State, and true Shocker Pride. 

Nominees and/or applicants for Shocktoberfest Court should:

• positively represent Wichita State University.
• play an active role on-campus in an organization, group, and/or position of leadership.
• promotes belonging and Shocker Pride.
• demonstrate academic excellence.

Please note, Student Engagement & Belonging reserves the right to remove any court member who is not in good standing with or whose conduct reflects poorly on Wichita State University.

Nominations will close on Wednesday, September 9 at midnight. Applications close on Wednesday, September 16.

Candidate Requirements

• Currently enrolled, full-time, degree-seeking students
• 30 or more credit hours completed as of August 2026
• 2.75 GPA or higher
• Good academic and conduct standing with Wichita State

Application Process

1. Individuals can apply or their own or someone can nominate them. All nominees who meet the requirements of the Shocktoberfest Court will be asked to submit an application. 
2. Applications include short essay responses and a video submission that addresses the following:
   • Your journey to become a Shocker
   • Your involvement experiences and it's impact on the Shocker community
   • How you plan to continue your journey as a Shocker after graduation
3. Video requirements 
   1. May be in any format or configuration
   2. Must submit a link to the video in one of the following ways
      • Upload to a video platorm like YouTube or Vimeo
      • or, Host the video in a cloud based environment like Google Drive or OneDrive
   3. No direct uploads will be accepted
   4. Must not exceed 5 minutes in length
4. All applications will be reviewed by the staff of Student Engagement & Belonging resulting in a selection of 24 applicants to be reviewed by a panel of Wichita State University faculty/staff. The panel will score applications resulting in up to 12 members to represent the Shocktoberfest Court.
5. Members of the court will be announced and voting will begin.  Wichita State students may cast one ballot and have two votes each.
6. Court members will attend and participate in Shocktoberfest events.
7. At Shocker Madness, two students will be crowned and given the title of Shocker Royalty!

2026 Important Dates & Deadlines

Obligations

Those selected as court members will be required to participate in the Shocktoberfest Parade and attend Shocker Madness on Saturday, October 3. Professional attire will be required for the parade and Shocker Madness. The presence of the court will also be requested at events throughout the week including the Kick-Off, Bonfire, and Shocker Pride Nationwide. Each applicant must understand that these appearances are mandatory, and by accepting a position on the Shocktoberfest Court, are agreeing to fulfill them.
