To provide a financial incentive for departments to process payroll paperwork in a timely manner.
Departmental noncompliance with payroll paperwork due dates increases the risk of payroll processing errors. When payroll data are submitted to the Department of Administration of the State of Kansas, the data must be error free and it must be submitted on a timely basis or the entire payroll will be rejected.
There will be a $100 administrative fee assessed for each payroll advance that is required due to a department's failure to submit payroll paperwork by established due dates so that the employee(s) can be paid on the regular payroll schedule. The Office of Financial Operations and Business Technology will notify the department of the fee and payment will be made by interagency transfer.
