Wichita State Invent for the Planet team

Feb. 21, 2020 -- Wichita State University was one of more than 40 universities around the world that competed in a 48-hour global design competition called “Invent For The Planet.” Wichita State has participated as a regional hub in Invent For the Planet (IFTP) for the past three years.

Feb. 20, 2020 -- Dane Laughlin started working for INVISTA, Koch Industries’ textiles, polymers, fiber and resin producer, while he was a biomedical engineering student at Wichita State and got hired on full time after graduating in May 2019.

Feb. 20, 2020 -- Brian Amos, assistant professor of political science at Wichita state, has dedicated numerous papers and conferences to gerrymandering research.

Feb. 10, 2020 - Wichita State Assistant Professor of Trumpet David Hunsicker partnered with WSU's National Institute for Aviation Research (NIAR) and WSU Ventures to create the Gapper, a flexible plastic device that helps musicians control the third valve slide on the trumpet.

2020 Wallace Scholarship winners

Feb. 7 2020 -- Ten high school seniors have won the 2020 Wallace Scholarship in engineering to attend Wichita State University.

Feb. 7, 2020 -- Austin Rea, a senior from Washburn Rural High School in Topeka, Kansas, has won the 2020 Wichita State University Clay Barton Scholarship.

Feb. 5, 2020 -- Thanks to a generous gift from utility company Evergy, students in the College of Engineering at Wichita State University can learn about and conduct research on solar power technology, as well as how to protect an electric grid from short circuiting.

Feb. 5, 2019 -- Bryant Lewis from Olathe Kansas received the Linwood Sexton Endowed Scholarship in 2019. The full-ride scholarship allowed him to pursue his dream of attending WSU.

Feb. 4, 2020 - Three Wichita State bowlers earned a spot on Junior Team USA, an honor that carries a boost of confidence and the thrill of representing their country. T.J. Rock, Alec Keplinger and Briley Haugh will attend training camp this summer in Arlington, Texas.

Winners of the 2020 Gore Scholarships to attend Wichita State

Jan. 31, 2020 -- Wichita State University has selected the 2020 recipients of the Harry Gore Memorial Scholarships. Each student will receive a $64,000 scholarship to attend Wichita State University in August 2020.

Jan. 23, 2020 - Wichita State graduate Marcus Wright used his applied learning experiences at the student newspaper and with the athletic department to start his career in digital media. After a season with MLB Advanced Media, he returned to Wichita State and works on photo and video for the athletic department.

Audrey Korte, Mandela Washington Fellowship Exchange recipient

Jan. 17, 2020 -- Audrey Korte, a Wichita State graduate student studying representation and the news and recent graduate of Wichita’s Civic Engagement Academy, has been selected to participate in the Mandela Washington Fellowship for Young African Leaders’ Reciprocal Exchange.

Prenatal Hope's VivO2

Jan. 16, 2020 - VivO2 earned a 2020 Innovation Award at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas earlier this month. ClearObject.com named VivO2 one of its top three things to see at the show, a six-day gathering of industry professionals from around the world. Founder and CEO Tammy Dorsey and co-founder and CTO James Balman are Wichita State Master of Innovation Design students. Both attended CES, which attracted around 170,000 attendees.

Linwood Sexton Endowed Scholarship finalists

Jan. 16, 2020 -- Wichita State University has chosen the top 10 finalists for the Linwood Sexton Endowed Scholarship, a full-ride award geared toward minority students majoring in business or education.

Eduardo Castillo

Dec. 19, 2019 -- Eduardo Castillo won't let anything stop him from being successful. Even though having a speech impediment can make it more difficult to communicate, Eduardo has found a channel that best suits him. By telling his story through video, Eduardo feels like he can finally say what he wants to. Congratulations to Eduardo Castillo for being one of more than 1,100 students who were eligible to graduate this fall.
