Wichita State University has received approval to rename University Stadium to Crossland Stadium in recognition of Crossland Construction’s significant contributions and longstanding connections to the university.
In addition to its transformational philanthropic support, Crossland has played a significant role in bringing WSU’s Innovation Campus to life by developing and constructing many of the facilities that have helped transform the university and strengthen connections among education, research and industry.
“When I look out across our Innovation Campus, I see Crossland Construction’s footprint in the places where our vision has become reality. Now, that same influence will be visible here at Crossland Stadium," said Wichita State President Rick Muma. “Crossland has helped create the physical spaces where Wichita State’s identity and aspirations come to life, demonstrating a deep understanding of our vision and a commitment to making it tangible for our students and community.”
As the host of the Kansas State High School Track and Field Championship, an event generating $6-$7 million annually for the community, Crossland Stadium will continue to connect thousands of students and families to Wichita State each year. For many, the state-of-the art venue serves as a powerful gateway where future Shockers first see their opportunities take shape.
“At Crossland, we believe in building beyond what others thought possible,” said DJ McClenny, Crossland Construction’s Wichita Division Vice President. “Our relationship with Wichita State reflects that belief. This is a venue intentionally designed to bring students, families and the broader community together for many generations, and we are proud to be part of a project that aligns with our values and will have a lasting impact.”
