April 16, 2020 -- While hospitals and doctors’ offices are seen as the battlegrounds against COVID-19, there’s another group of medical professionals who are also on the front line: home health care workers.

April 15, 2020 -- Hanna Bates-Crosby is currently a nursing student at Wichita State University. She recently volunteered to work in New York City as a nurse during the novel coronavirus pandemic.

April 15, 2020 -- Krista Giggy, a Wichita State University alumna and nurse anesthetist, volunteers for a team to treat critical COVID-19 patients at a New Hampshire hospital.

April 13, 2020 - Wichita State University and Kansas State University will launch a dual-degree program that will give students the opportunity to earn both a Bachelor of Science from the College of Health and Human Sciences at K-State and a Bachelor of Science in nursing from the College of Health Professions at WSU. This is the first and only program of its kind in Kansas.

April 10, 2020 -- The U.S. Department of Education released its official allocations yesterday (Thursday, April 9) for the newly passed Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security Act (CARES Act). Wichita State University will receive nearly $8.8 million. Half of the funds – nearly $4.4 million – will be allocated as emergency financial aid grants to students.

Feb. 27, 2020 - Wichita State University political science professor Dinorah Azpuru is doing her part to help people’s understanding of political science with her work in the Washington Post “The Monkey Cage,” a blog dedicated to “making sense of the circus that is politics,” as the blog describes itself. She has submitted three articles to the blog, most recently one that examines declining trust in and support for democracy in Latin America

Feb. 26, 2020 -- Wichita State University and WSU Ventures have entered into a new strategic partnership with California-based Lightning Diversion Systems, a Ducommun Company. The partnership involves the exclusive licensing of a lightning strike protection system for rotor blades in the wind turbine industry.

Feb. 20, 2020 -- Brian Amos, assistant professor of political science at Wichita state, has dedicated numerous papers and conferences to gerrymandering research.

Feb. 12, 2020 -- Wichita State University Police Department has over 30 commissioned officer and 18 support staff members. WSUPD offers many resources  across campus which help protect and keep students, faculty and staff safe.

Jan. 16, 2020 -- The Wichita State University Police Department has been named as one of the Top 25 programs in the country for its focus on safety.

Dec. 4, 2019 -- Nayeli Cano is passionate about helping people and wants to work with underrepresented communities to provide equal access to health care for those in need. 

Dec. 5, 2019 -- The National Science Foundation (NSF) has released updated rankings for university research and development (R&D) expenditures, and Wichita State has held its position as the top university in the country for industry-funded aeronautical R&D with a total of $39 million in fiscal year 2018.
