Aerospace Engineering faculty & students work with engineers from Spirit AeroSystems

 

A team of faculty and graduate students from the WSU Department of Aerospace Engineering, along with engineers from Spirit AeroSystems, have been working on a multi-year collaborative research project aimed at developing predictive methods for forming composite and metallic honeycomb cores into complex shapes. This work, funded by Spirit AeroSystems, will provide design guidelines and forming process limits to support new aircraft development. The key investigators working on this project are Dr. Suresh Keshavanarayana (WSU PI), Dr. Charles Yang (WSU Co-PI), H. Shahverdi (doctoral student) and Dr. Allison Horner (Spirit AeroSystems PI). The team has recently published their work in multiple conference proceedings and peer-reviewed journals, which are listed below:
