Event Details

Join us on the campus of Wichita State University for the Koch Innovation Challenge. This year will feature over 40 teams of first-year students who have completed the Shocker Design Experience and have identified a need in the community that can be solved using technology. They'll deliver their live elevator pitches to demonstrate their solutions to a panel of faculty and industry judges and the winning team will advance to a national pitch competition.

Friday, May 8, 2026, Rhatigan Student Center Ballroom
Preliminary Live Elevator Pitch at 9:30-10:45 AM will take place in RSC rooms.
Final Round at 11:00 - 11:45 AM, Rhatigan Student Center Ballroom (free and open to the public)
Awards Ceremony at 12:15 - 12:30 PM (free and open to the public)

A device to make changing the tiny batteries in hearing aids easier

Hearing aid batteries are often small and difficult to replace due to their size. To simplify battery swapping, this pen-like handheld device utilizes an electromagnet to make battery change-outs a push-button process, regardless of the size of the battery or hearing aid. Its larger size also makes it easier to grip and handle.
