Engineering Open House 2022 - Friday, May 6th 9 a.m. - 4 p.m.
Now in its 67th year, Engineering Open House (EOH) is the College of Engineering's
annual celebration of the accomplishments
of our students and faculty.
As part of graduation requirements, students take a capstone design course during
their senior year under the supervision of a faculty advisor. Senior Design is the
culmination of an engineering or computing education and is where students put into
practice all their design engineering skills in order to develop a prototype solution
to address an identified need. Many projects are interactive and nearly all have real-world
applications and are applicable to local industries and companies.
The Koch Innovation Challenge, sponsored by Koch Industries, is an annual competition that supports the WSU College
of Engineering in fostering a culture of creativity, innovation, entrepreneurship,
and teamwork among students. Cross-disciplinary teams of new freshmen and transfer
students studying engineering, art and design, business, and other disciplines will
compete for funding and scholarships to invent products and technologies via the First
Year Seminar: Introduction to Technology & Innovation course. A final competition
will take place during the annual Engineering Open House to identify the Grand Champion
Team for the Koch Innovation Challenge competition. The grand champions of the competition
will compete nationally at a collegiate entrepreneurs' conference. Student teams from
the First Year Seminar course who participated in the Koch Innovation Challenge but
were not named finalists will also present their projects at EOH.
